Abstract

Low spin states in the odd-odd nucleus 50Mn were populated in the 50Cr(p,nγ)50Mn fusion evaporation reaction at 15 MeV beam energy at the FN-Tandem accelerator in Cologne. γ-angular correlations, γγ coincidences, and Compton asymmetries were measured. 21 states of 50Mn were observed, 16 for the first time. Six new spin assignments and two parity assignments were made. Eight multipole-mixing ratios and nine new γ-decay branching ratios were determined for the first time. A full pf-shell model calculation for the low-lying states in 50Mn is compared to the data.
