Abstract

The excitation function for the 233U(3He,4n)232Pu reaction was measured. The maximum production cross section is 6.2±1.5μb at 32.5±2.2MeV. The plutonium fraction was chemically separated from interfering activities. The 232Pu half-life was determined to be 33.1±0.8min using the interference-free data obtained from α-α correlations of daughter activities in equilibrium with the 232Pu decay.
