Abstract

Measurements of 12C+12C breakup of 24Mg have been performed using targets containing carbon, oxygen, lithium, and beryllium. The excitation energy in 24Mg was determined from the relative energy of the correlated 12C fragments. The data provide the first evidence for the 12C+12C breakup of 24Mg populated via the 16O(24Mg, 12C12C)16O reaction.
