Abstract

The role of the three-body wave function in the scattering of pions from polarized 3He is studied. It is found that for the case of the asymmetry from π+ scattering, the inclusion of the D state can be very important, changing the asymmetry calculated by as much as a factor 2–3. The π scattering asymmetry is altered very little.
