Abstract

Lifetimes of low-lying states in 125,127La nuclei were measured using the recoil distance method. The nuclei were produced by the 94Mo(35Cl,2p2n) and 112Cd(19F,4n) reactions, respectively. Experimental results were described in the framework of the core quasiparticle coupling model. It was found that the observed bands can be reasonably well described as πg7/2, πg9/2, and πh11/2 quasiparticle configurations coupled to elongated (β20.28) triaxial cores. No evidence for a rapid change of the nuclear shape in the πh11/2 band in 127La is seen in our data.
