Abstract

An upper limit to the production of 19Ne through the 18F(p,γ) reaction at the recently discovered s-wave resonance has been determined. The limit implies that in a hot stellar environment (T9>0.5) this reaction is not a significant gateway from the hot CNO cycle towards the production of heavier elements in stars.
