Abstract

Dimensionless single-particle reduced widths θsp2 are calculated for target masses of A = 12−50 by comparing proton partial widths obtained from optical-model computations and from R-matrix expressions. The systematic dependence of θsp2 to variations in bombarding energy E, target mass A, charge Z, interaction radius ac, radial (n) and orbital angular momentum (ℓ) quantum numbers is investigated. It is found that θsp2 is sensitive to variations in A, E, ac, n and ℓ, but is almost independent of Z. The numerical results of the present work can be applied to improved estimates of proton partial widths.
