Neutrino scattering from 12C and 16O

Abstract

Exclusive and inclusive (νμ,μ), (νe,e) cross sections and μ-capture rates are calculated for 12C and 16O using the consistent random phase approximation (RPA) and pairing model. After a pairing correction is introduced to the RPA results, the flux-averaged theoretical (νμ,μ), (νe,e) cross sections and μ-capture rates in 12C are in good agreement with experiment. Predictions of (νμ,μ) and (νe,e) cross sections in 16O are also presented.
