Abstract

The competition between direct α-transfer and deuteron evaporation has been delineated in 16O(6Li,d) for Ecm from 7 to 14 MeV. Between 7 and 11.5 MeV the reaction proceeds via evaporation. At 12 MeV a direct component appears and after 2 MeV the two mechanisms contribute equally. With the present and all previous relevant results, a complete map of the evolution of the two reaction mechanisms has been constructed.
