Abstract

A study of superdeformation in the nucleus Sm142 has revealed a superdeformed band, which is isospectral for γ-ray energies above ∼1 MeV with a Gd146 band. The relative alignment of these bands is compared to Hartree-Fock calculations. This second case of A∼150 2p2n isospectrality is discussed in terms of specific orbitals which are often associated with identical bands.
