Abstract
The quasielastic scattering of the exotic neutron-drip-line nucleus on a target has been studied at an incident energy of 796 MeV, and compared with that of the ‘‘core’’ at the same energy per nucleon. Evidence is presented that the phenomenological optical-model potential for the former system requires an attractive real surface term, as well as the ‘‘expected’’ surface imaginary term, in order to reproduce the experimental angular distribution.
