Abstract

The V50(nth,p)50Ti reaction has been studied at a very clean thermal neutron beam of the ILL’s high flux reactor. An accurate cross section value of (0.71±0.04) mb has been determined, as well as a value of (0.002 364±0.000 008) u for the 5050Ti mass difference. Possible applications in nuclear astrophysics and in reactor technology are pointed out.
