Abstract

The magnetic moment and quadrupole moment of the radioactive isotope Pr143 have been measured by collinear laser-ion-beam spectroscopy. The magnetic moment is found to be μ(143)=+2.701(4)μN; the quadrupole moment, Q(143)=+0.77(16)eb. The experimental values are discussed by comparing them with the theoretical values of pairing-plus-quadrupole, intermediate-coupling, and interacting-boson-fermion models.
