Abstract

Reaction cross sections for alpha particles have been measured for C12, O16, Si28, Ca40, Ca48, Ni58, Ni60, Sn124, and Pb208 at 74.5, 103.2, 129.3, 159.7, and 192.7 MeV. The experimental values are found to be considerably smaller than predictions from conventional optical model calculations.
