Abstract

The mass of the nucleus Li11 has been determined from a measurement of the Q value of the reaction C14(B11,Li11)O14 at EA32 MeV. The results, which indicate a two-neutron separation energy of S2n(Li11)=295±35 keV, put this basic quantity on a firm basis for use in theoretical models of the halo nucleus Li11.
