Abstract

The Pb208,2He)210Pb reaction has been investigated at about 55 MeV incident energy. The angular distributions of prominent transitions were analyzed with the distorted-wave Born approximation. At low excitation energies, states built on 2g9/2 single-particle strength are found, while at higher energies configurations including 1j15/2 strength dominate. Together with the predictions of the crude shell model the main configurations of most observed transitions were identified. The results are compared to shell-model calculations with the Kuo-Herling residual interaction modified by Warburton and Brown.
