Abstract

The electron capture and β+-decay properties of Dy145 (produced in Ni58 + Mo92 irradiations) were investigated following mass separation of A=145 isobars. A new 6(2)-s activity was identified and assigned to the νs1/2 Dy145 ground state. Its decay to low-spin levels in Tb145 indicates that the base state for low-spin levels in this N=80 odd-Z nucleus is probably πd3/2 rather than πs1/2, as is the case for terbium nuclei with N=82, 84, and 86.
