Abstract

The nuclear structures of light neutron-rich nuclei, such as 6,8He and 11Li, have been studied by various methods. Here, we report on recent experimental progress concerning our understanding of

  • 1.

    (1) Ground state property: two types of extended neutron distributions, i.e. the neutron halo for 11Li and the neutron skin for 6,8He. New information from the p(11Li,11Li)p reaction.

  • 2.

    (2) Excited states: a soft dipole mode in 11Li studied by the double-charge-exchange reaction 11B(π, π+)11Li and by an exclusive measurement of the Pb(11Li,9Li+2n)X reaction.

  • 3.

    (3) Valence neutrons: semi-inclusive distributions, and correlations between valence neutrons estimated from the momentum distribution of neutrons and fragments.
