Abstract

The energies of γ-rays from some nuclides around 500 keV have been measured with the HPGe spectrometer by a slithering comparison with the precisely known γ-energies of 192Ir. The precision of the energies determined by this method, including 477603.23(41) eV for 7Be, 511852.75(55) eV for 106Ru, 514004.92(50) eV for 85Sr, 520399.06(54) eV for 83Rb, 529594.53 (64) eV for 83Rb and 552551.19(71) eV for 93Rb, have been improved a factor of 4–10 compared to those presented in previous papers.

A more extensive comparison of the mid-range (500–800 keV) lines in 83Kr observed in a variety of studies is shown in Table 5. The present results for the 3 lowest energy lines agree with the 83Rb decay results reported by Alberger et al. (1988) as well as with the extremely precise results of Chang et al. (1993), and (at least for the 529.6 and 552.6 keV lines) are in disagreement with the measured results of Väisälä and also the compilation of Meyer (1990). The disagreement between the results of the present work and the results reported by both Väisälä and Meyer grows from about 0.1 keV for the lower energy group to about 0.4 keV for the 648.6 and 680.7 keV transitions.
