Abstract

Neutron-induced (n, d) reactions as well as the reaction cross-sections around 14–15 MeV neutron energy with medium and heavy nuclei are reviewed for the interval 12⩽ Z ⩽ 70. An empirical equation has been found by using the experimental (n, d) cross-section values for 14–15 MeV as a function of (NZ) and (EnEth), where (NZ) is the neutron excess of th nucleus, and En and Eth are the incident neutron energy and the (n, d) threshold energy, respectively. This empirical equation works very well for a quick estimation of the (n, d) cross-sections. The present predictions of cross-sections show good agreement with experimental values.
