Abstract

The effect of distortion in quasifree excitation in the charge exchange reaction C12(d→,2p[1S0]) at 1.6 GeV bombarding energy is evaluated in the eikonal limit. When taking into account the effect of distortion for the two probe particles individually, the experimentally observed enhancement of the spin-transverse over the spin-longitudinal cross section is qualitatively explained.
