Abstract

The process of the formation of the resonant dtμ molecule tμ+HD→[(dtμ) pee] is considered and its rate λdtμ−p is calculated as a function of the energy of the mesic atom tμ and the temperature of the H2+D2+T2 mixture. It is shown that at the energy E=0.2 eV and the temperature T=30 K the rate λdtμ−p reaches the value 2 × 1010s−1. At T=900 K the resonant formation rate averaged over the maxwellian distribution on the energies of the tμ atom is λdtμ−p≈2.3×109s−1. The consequences of these results are discussed.
