Abstract

We consider the dynamic response of the 4He nucleus near the quasielastic peak. We perform perturbative (in the inverse of the momentum transfer), semiclassical, and real-time path integral Monte Carlo calculations. While all three calculations indicate that “y-scaling” holds with increasing momentum transfer, only the last two reproduce the experimental approach to scaling, indicating a sensitivity to the short-range repulsion in the nucleon-nucleon interaction.
