Abstract

Using tQ-box techniques linked expansions in terms of number of folds are carried out for all states of the mass 4–7 and 14–16 nuclei, where the complete (0 + 2) ħω space is considered. These expansions are shown to converge quickly. However, a similar expansion for the J = 0, T = 0 state of 8Be is found to diverge due to the presence of “intruder states”. The derived interaction is tested in shell-model calculations of the A = 5–15 nuclei and it is found that the effective three-body interaction has a strong influence in improving agreement with experiment.
