Abstract

It is shown that in a direct reaction model of the 6Li(d, alpha )4He reaction, the large tensor analysing powers observed result from the kinematical enhancement of entrance channel spin-2 amplitudes. The various mechanisms capable of generating s=2 amplitudes are discussed.
