Negative-parity states in the spectrum of Li6 from elastic scattering and radiative capture of He3 by H3

Abstract

The results of a new resonance analysis of the elastic scattering of He3 by H3 in odd-parity states and the radiative capture of He3 by H3 in the first excited state of Li6 are presented. We give evidence for a very broad level of Li6 at ELi=26.59±0.065 MeV with Jπ=2, S,T=1,1 not previously reported. The shape of the angular distributions and the broad maximum observed in the radiative capture cross section at high energies are explained in terms of the interference of three very wide 33Fj overlapping resonances. Numerical values of the resonance parameters are given.
