Abstract

We have measured the (3H+p) and (3He+n) breakup of He4 by He4(e,ec) coincidence experiments at low momentum transfer (q≊0.39 fm1) in the excitation energy region 22≤Ex≤36 MeV. Both channels were studied simultaneously by detecting the charged fragments c=p, H3, and He3 in the same detector system. The measured He4(e,ep)3H and He4(e,en)3He angular correlations as well as the deduced total He4(e,ep)3H and He4(e,en)3He cross sections are reproduced by microscopic model calculations with a charge-symmetric nuclear Hamiltonian.
