Abstract

The high-spin states of the N=88 isotones: Dy154, Er156, and Yb158 are studied in the interacting-boson-plus-two-fermion-pair model. It was found that the high-spin states above and around the second backbends of Er156 and Yb158 could be interpreted as having two fermion pairs in addition to bosons. The yrast states much higher than the second backbends cannot be correlated in the model. Possible extensions of the model are discussed.
