Observation of the ground-state band of Th234 using the Th232(18O,16O) reaction

Abstract

The ground-state rotational band of Th234 is established up to Iπ=10+ (12+) by in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy. Heavy-ion transfer reactions are shown to be useful to investigate otherwise unaccessible neutron-rich actinide nuclides.
