Abstract

Inclusive π° — production in subthreshold heavy ion collisions has been studied using 20Ne (200 Mev/u) and 16O (38 MeV/u). Targets of 27Al and197Au were employed. No appreciable anisotropy can be seen, at 38 MeV/u, in the angular distributions and the energy spectra exhibit a maximum located at 20 MeV, while in the case of 20Ne beam at 200 MeV/u the angular distribution is peaked in the forward direction and the maximum in the spectrum is shifted at larger Tπ° energies.
