Abstract

The 13N(p, γ)14O reaction is studied in a multichannel microscopic model based on the generator-coordinate method and on the microscopic R-matrix theory. The 12; 12 ground state and the 32; 12 (3.51 MeV) state of 13N are included in the calculation. The γ-width of the 1 (5.17 MeV) state of 14O is found to be 4.1 eV. A parallel study of the 13C(n, γ)14C reaction at thermal energy indicates that this γ-width might be underestimated by 30%.
