Abstract

The peripheral nature of quasielastic scattering is addressed. The authors compare the spin observables P, D_n'n'D_s's and D_l's for inclusive quasielastic proton scattering from ¹²C with that from ¹⁶O at an incident energy of 420 meV and a central momentum transfer of 1.97 fm^-1. The similarity between the respective observables is remarkable.
