Abstract

The electromagnetic decays of low-spin states of Pt198 have been investigated by detecting γ rays and internal conversion electrons following inelastic proton scattering at Ep=12.3 MeV. The γ-ray decay of the 914-keV 0+ state is confirmed, branching ratios for other states have been measured, and a newly observed level at 2603 keV is suggested as a possible core excited octupole state.
