Abstract

The hexadecapole transition strength distribution is measured for the deformed nucleus Nd150 using the (p,p) reaction at Ep=30 MeV. The experimental information on B(E4) values in this nucleus and in Gd156 is interpreted in the framework of the sdg interacting boson model. It is found that the main features of the experimental data are fairly well reproduced by a Hartree-Bose method plus Tamm-Dancoff approximation.
