Abstract

Assuming that two neutrons in Li11 form a ‘‘halo’’, we derive phenomenologically the narrow component of the width of the momentum distribution of Li9 from the fragmentation of Li11 using a diffractive excitation model. The binding energy of the two neutrons in the halo is estimated and the momentum widths of other heavy fragments are also given.
