We establish the formal connection between the spin difference function and the loss of symmetry of the correlation function in (p,p’γ) experiments. The same sensitivity to relativistic effects present in (p→,p→ ’) spin observable differences is also found in (p,p’γ) reactions. We performed a relativistic distorted wave calculation of the asymmetry and found sizable effects.
