Abstract

A rotational band, showing both signature components with a small energy splitting, has been identified in the doubly-odd Eu138 nucleus via the Mo92(50Cr,3pnγ) reaction. Both γ-γ and γ-n coincidence studies were employed. Comparisons with the lighter Pm136, Pr134, and La132 isotones suggest a πh11/2⊗νh11/2 structure.
