Abstract
The optical phase shift function is calculated to fifth order in a model in which center of mass correlations in the nucleus are taken into account. Differential cross sections are calculated for elastic scattering of protons by , , , and . The results are compared with exact Glauber calculations and with a simple ρ-type approximation. The significance of the higher-order corrections is assessed.
