Distorted wave impulse approximation predictions are made for quasifree (π,πN) nucleon knockout reactions on polarized nuclear targets. The case of $J_A$=(1/2 targets is considered in detail with particular reference to ${}_{}{}^{13}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$. It is shown, for this case, that three terms, having somewhat different physical origins, contribute to the spin-up/spin-down asymmetry.
