Abstract
The use of the complex angular momentum plane for describing nuclear resonance reactions is investigated in detail. Many statements, commonly accepted, are critically reconsidered. Particular attention is devoted to the role played by echoes of the resonances and by hard-core potentials. In this way we construct a theory which allows us to connect the resonances belonging to a rotational band. The theory is checked on α-α scattering.
