The multiphonon method based on $K^{\pi }=0^{+}$ and $K^{\pi }=0^{-}$ phonons is applied to ${}_{}{}^{234}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{U}$. The anharmonicities obtained for the octupole vibrations are smaller than in the light Ra and Th isotopes and not significantly altered by the coupling with the $K^{\pi }=0^{+}$ mode. The $I=K=0^{+}$ and the $I=1\mathrm{}$, $K=0^{-}$ states observed at 1044 and 1237 keV, respectively, cannot be interpreted as two-phonon states.
