Abstract

Spin-flip charge-exchange (d, He2) reactions on C12, C13, and N14 were measured at Ed=70 MeV. At forward angles, negative vector analyzing powers of -0.2 to -0.6 were observed for ΔL=0 transitions for all targets studied, whereas a positive value was obtained for the transition to the 4.4 MeV excited state of B12 in the C12(d,He2) reaction for which ΔL=1 is the main component. Distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations reproduce this ΔL dependence of the analyzing power. The fits to the data for ΔL=0 transitions are improved if the two-step processes via d-p-He2 and d-He3-He2 channels are taken into account.
