Abstract

The deexcitation of the 8.6 μs isomer of 9939Y has been studied using γ-ray spectroscopy techniques at LOHENGRIN and JOSEF. The resultant level scheme is analyzed within the ' framework of the particle-rotor coupling model. The ground-state band, to spin 192u+, is found to have band properties consistent with a π[42252] Nilsson assignment. The 8.6 μs isomer and a side band with a band-head half-life of 1.4 ns are found to have Jπ values of 172+ and 112+, respectively. Their properties are consistent with a {π[42252]ν[41132]ν[40492]} assignment. Some evidence is given for the dominance of the νν interaction over the πν interaction in these three-quasiparticle partners.
