NUCLEAR REACTIONS ¹⁹⁹Hg(γ, γ), E=158 keV; measured Mossbauer spectra; deduced quadrupole splitting in HgF₂, Hg₂F₂ absorbers, electron densities. ¹⁹⁹Hg deduced quadrupole moment, sign, rms radius. Self-consistent charge extended Hueckel molecular orbital method.
