A simple relation between total inclusive neutrino-scattering cross sections and total muon-capture rates in nuclei is derived. The calculation makes use of the closure and the nonrelativistic impulse approximations. The relation is used to predict neutrino cross sections in ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ for $E_{\nu }$=150–250 MeV.
