Abstract

The Coulomb exchange kernel between two-nucleon clusters of quarks is calculated by using the resonating-group method. The resulting Coulomb quark-exchange energy increases the Coulomb energy difference in the A = 3 mirror nuclei (by as much as 4% for large nucleons), but decreases it (by −2 to −4%) in p-shell nuclei. Other quark effects in charge-dependent (and asymmetric) interactions are briefly discussed.
