Abstract

We consider a simple model of the π-N scattering amplitude in nuclear matter, in which the intermediate pion propagators appearing in π-N diagrams are dressed through the scattering of the pion from the background nucleons. We use this model to calculate the differential cross section for the exclusive (π,πN) knockout reaction with the geometry of the experiment especially chosen to maximize the possibility of observing renormalization of the Δ resonance in the nuclear interior.
