Two-step processes in tritium decay

Abstract

Two-step amplitudes in which the Coulomb interaction of the ejected β electron excites the bound atomic electron into S and P states are calculated. Probabilities for excited states of the residual helium ion are changed by less than 0.24% from the sudden approximation.
