Abstract

Gamma rays and conversion electrons were measured for the Am244 beta decay isomers in an Am243 target undergoing neutron capture in a high-flux reactor. New transitions accompanying beta decay of 26-min Amg244 were observed. These include 984.92-keV and 977.80-keV E0 transitions assigned to the deexcitation of a first-excited 0+ band in Cm244 with level energies of 984.91 (0+) and 1020.76 (2+) keV. The ratio of reduced transition probabilities B(E0)B(E2) for the 0+ level is 1.5±0.2.
