Abstract
The angular dependence of the polarization of neutrons from the (d,n) reaction leaving in the ground state was determined from the asymmetry in the scattering by . Mean deuteron energies of 400 and 460 keV in the LiF target were used. Differential cross sections were also determined as well as the energy dependence of the neutron yield from 100-500 keV incident deuteron energy. Fitting of the data by distorted-wave Born approximation calculations is discussed and an approximate fit obtained. The polarization of 0.25 ± 0.03 at 35° with 400 keV deuteron energy indicates a possible interest in the reaction as a polarized neutron source for scattering studies.
